2 weeks ago, in the middle of Malaysia’s Covid19 lockdown — also known locally as MCO — I experienced my first Zoom funeral.
It was 4.30am on a Tuesday morning — I was still up working because I usually work late nights through morning as a start-up founder who is staying at his office writing code and producing content — when I received a text from my cousins that my aunt had just passed away.
The co-living/co-working space that I’m at was just 5 minutes away from the hospital, hence I decided to make my way there to see my aunt one last time and be there for her family despite Malaysia still being on lockdown.
To be honest, I wasn’t entirely sure if I was allowed to do so, but I figured there should be some exceptions for circumstances like these, plus the hospital was only 5 minutes away, that was the least I could do.
